maybe someone can help with this.
A friend is rebuilding a Series II 4/4. The rear springs mount on the
chassis on a bracket on top of the crossmember, the same as the early Plus
4s. Morgans later changed this to have the mounting point behind the cross
member, about 2 inched lower. This changed the angle of the spring and no
doubt the handling characteristics of the cars. I was under the impression
that Morgans changed this in order that the seat back could be moved
further rearwards giving more room to the vertically unchallenged. On
closer examination however it appears the chassis crossmember was move
forward at the same time and hence there is not much difference in
available space.
Does anyone know why Morgans changed the way they mounted the rear springs
and which configuration gives the optimal handling characteristics.
