Team,
Just a question for the next time I mount wings. I got the wings for my 67
+4 back from the paint shop last Saturday and installed them over the
weekend. I had taken the car for test runs without the wings since I had
just about every mechanical part or the car apart over the winter and
everything is now running great.

I took the car about 12 miles to the paint shop with the newly installed
wings to have them fit a scoop on the bonnet so I can run with air cleaners.
Anyway after I drove to the body shop everyone there was looking over the
car (much interest since they had only seen the wings and bonnet that had
been there all winter) and I noticed small cracks in the finish just by each
wing light. It looks like the angle of the mounting bracket was slightly
different from that of the wing and the pounding from each bump had put a
slight crease in these points on the wing. Last winter I had the body shop
weld backing plates on the wings to reinforce this area since this is one of
the reasons I took the wings to be repainted. So it looks like I am back
where I started with the cracks, only now I have a lot better looking
overall finish on the wings.

Does anyone out in Morgan land have any suggestions to keep this from
happening? For one thing I would like to avoid it getting worse and secondly
if I every repaint them again I would like to eliminate this problem.

It almost broke my heart after all the work (and expense) of getting the
wings absolutely straight.

Thanks,

Phil Roettjer
