You really don't have to actually be in the car like the ill fated Isadora.
Many years ago when I was in college (make that two years ago, yeah...) I
briefly dated a fellow with a Triumph spitfire. We were out for a ride one
chilly afternoon, and I was wearing a long wool scarf. Aware of Isadora's
mistake, I kept the scarf close to me inside the vehicle. When he dropped me
off in front of my dorm, I turned to close the car door & say goodbye before
he roared away. One end of the scarf was wrapped around my neck a few times
and the other end fell to the ground just as he pulled away- getting sucked
right into the rear wire wheel. I saw it coming and screamed, but he didn't
hear me over the roar of the mighty Triumph & I was spun around several
times like a little dervish as the scarf was ripped from my neck. It was
actually really comical, once I realized I was still alive. Although for a
few days my neck looked like I'd been dangling on the wrong end of the rope.
I got a call from him later that evening. "Hey, I found your scarf in my
wheel...?"

So go ahead and wear the scarves, but do your own driving. Cheers, Linda &
