Hey Gang,

Many thanks to all of you (including Scott, Gerry, Stu, Toad, Richard,
Linda, Nelson, Steve D., Steve G., Tim, Dave, Fred, Ben, Jeff, and Bill, as
well as any others I may have missed!) who responded to my inquiry about
adding a coolant recovery tank to me Mog. Sounds like a very popular
upgrade!

Yellow does not actually run hot... just pukes coolant EVERY time he is shut
down after a spirited run. That is what I am trying to correct. Marking
one's territory is perfectly understandable, but please! All things in
moderation!

While Yellow was down for paint I pulled the rad with the intent of
upgrading to a new HiPo aluminum radiator (slightly less efficient yes, but
also lighter) but after looking my rad over the pro said it did not need
replacement just cleaning and rodding. So, ever glad to conserve a few
bucks, I decided to keep the original radiator, at least for another try. (I
confess I still lust after the aluminum, probably because it works so well
in my hot rod...)

I have been paranoid about overheating in me Mog for all of the 20 years I
have had it (or it has had me)... 19.5 years ago I added a second, modern,
temp gauge which has confirmed over the years that the stock gauge is
telling lies. So, if it ain't hissing and spewing and the modern gauge is
reading below about 220 degrees (7# cap), I don't really get too concerned.
At speed me Mog consistently runs at the thermostat value, 180 degrees.

I will get out among 'em and find a scrapped metal recovery tank from an MG
or Rover or Volvo as soon as possible but meantime I bought a small (1.5
quart) plastic tank at PEP boys. I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers!
