They probably used whatever they had lying around, remains of packing crates
that various parts came in from outside suppliers or perhaps the remains of
old pallets that the TR engines were bound to.
I'm sure marine ply would be fine, but plain old exterior grade would work to
as this is one part of a Morgan that generally doesn't get too damp.
