I was reading with interest the bit on the Mog Aerodynamics
and wanted to mention that our car in 1963 had in its factory ledger, the
term 'pos. rad. shield',
I also found in a Morgan Motor Co. Ad for that same year a 'pos. radiator
shield'.
This "positive radiator shielding' is a fitting I think we are
basically talking about to improve flow at the radiator,
but in the Case of the SS, the oil cooler is under the tray, and was
tilted back slightly, to allow flow down and away from the radiator,
now I think the rad shield must have been in there behind the lower cowl
box, and the radiator bottom as a shield to protect the radiator,
and as a maintenance of the gradient of pressure fore and aft of the
radiator.
Has anyone ever seen one of these period items?
All I can find is two small sheet metal holes at the back of my cowl box
that may be either drains for the upright box or the mounts for the
forward part of this shield.
it was worth the factory advertising as an option and in the ledger for
this car.
