It has been said that nothing stays the same but change itself!
Change that is, and the Morgan Sports Car. Time passes and things
automotive progress, but since about 1937 there has been very little
changes in the Morgan: and why should there? Morgan, King of the
classics to date, is several months behind in unfilled orders...
But even Morgan is subject to the withering scrutiny of time,
and like swiping forbidden fruit, the possibility of change is most
alluring.... and young upstarts will always attempt to "take a wack"
at the status quo...
Featured here at the 1966 International Automobile Show is the
first "truly engineered Ford V-8 engine and gear box installation"
in a Morgan Super-Sports Chassis.
Using the high performance (approx. 240 b.h.p.) Ford V-8
coupled with a T-10 4 speed close ratio stick shift (or an automatic
if ordered), Scuderia Automobiles of Hackensack, New Jersey hopes
to convince Peter Morgan of England that a "big brother" built in
the Americas is a definite possibility. Besides the above mentioned
289 cu. in. engine and gear boxes, future cars will embody a cast
aluminum chassis, 4 wheel independent suspension, role-up windows,
a paneled aluminum body, fold-down wind screen (for that dashing
classic look), wire wheels of course, nauga-leather upholstery,
folding convertible top with hard top option, full sized rear jump
seats, big heater, sold but comfortable running gear with all parts
easily obtainable in the U.S.A. etc., PLUS real performance. Weigh-
ing just around 2,000 lbs. and with several optional rear axle
ratios; 0-60 will be done in 4.7 seconds, with top speeds of
148 miles per hour.
If Peter's father doesn't rise up and shoot us all, there
might very well be (in limited production of course) a Morgan America
powered by Ford!

the show. its a blue mimeograph copy
I had never seen this bit before, remember Fergus Motors became Fergus
Fine cars in the fall of 63,
Joe B Ferguson Jr. had sponsored cars at sebring and is recorded in race
practice there as well.
did this have an influence on the plus 8 development?
what happened to the car! where was this show , in NY? It has a mint
picture of Baby Doll IV enclosed with it
that is obviously used for the brochure sketches behind the word Morgan
on the brochure covers.
my Morgan Super Sports with all sorts of options was ordered by Fergus
Motors and was raced by them,
I sense Joe Jr. was behind alot of this.
