It could very well be a broken wire...when I turn the ignition key, the
needles for the gas and battery jump slightly, and there is sometimes a
faint "tick" sound, which leads me to believe that there may be a short
somewhere between the ignition key and the starter. Perhaps I'll stop by
Radio Shack on my way home from work and pick up a voltmeter -- good thing
the bus is free for us university students.
I actually have the wiring diagram for the truck (a '54 Chevy 3100,
recently converted to 12-volt) in the original repair manual. Just how
rare are those original manuals, anyway?
