The older motors used minute particles of lead in the fuel to help lubricate
the valves. The newer unleaded motors have hardened valve seats and different
guides to compensate for the missing lead lubricant, from what I understand.
Most folks I know rebuild the motors to run on unleaded fuel. If you do not
know what valve seats and guides you have, mix lead additive to your tank and
