I think someone said there is a puller of some kind but does this work with
the driveshaft still in the tube?

I just replaced my trans and want to put in the new bushing I just got from
Carters, but can it be done with

 out taking out the driveshaft?

 Thanks,

Bob,
FIRST - check and see if you have a dowel pin keeping your bushing in place
(located on top of the torque tube @ 1.5" from the end). If so, drill out
the old one (carefully - not too far) then you may be able to drive the
bushing out with a small punch. Insert the punch through the dowel pin hole
and tap lightly (at a slight angle). I actually had a puller that would fit
(barely), but the punch worked fine.
REMEMBER - before you drive the new bushing/seal into the torque tube, file
down the splines on the driveshaft; they usually have a "feather edge" from
wear that will cut through the new seal in no time. Lithium grease also
helps everything glide in place.
If you don't have a dowel pin, then rent a puller and PRAY!
Good luck,
Tom
