I would doubt very much that a Nova ever had a 261. The last year that the
261 came was 1963 and only in trucks, to my knowledge. The 261 will bolt
right up to the bell housing and the first  261 I had I used the front motor
mount that I previously used for the original 235.  You can use a side mount
like I did for the current one but you will have to build the mount or buy
one. I bought mine from Buffalo Enterprises .  I used the side mounts this
time because I installed a 700 R4 behind it and I have no rear motor mounts
only the mount I fabricated for behind the tranny.
