The center section can be replaced with one from a early 70's chevy with an
EATON
rear. (they were used from 46 til 72 if i remember right) But the highest ratio
you'll find
will probably be 4.11:1 for cruise you'll probably want something from
3.23--3.73:1.

I've seen the subject of changing rear ends from time to time, but don't
know exactly what is possible, or recommended. What I have is a '59 model
235, with a 4 speed in my '50 3600. What I want is a gear ratio that will
give me better fuel efficiency through lower rpms, and if possible, no
cutting of the frame. Can this be done, and what are my options? I love
the 235, and it runs great, so I don't want to make any drastic changes,
just swap out the rear end, if this can be done.
