Sam,

For most repair operations, the GMC shop manual is more detailed, and better
illustrated, than the Chevrolet version. Drivetrain, suspension, rear axle,
cab and body are shared between the two at least through 1954. Engine repair
operations also have much in common, although the engines differ.

Most GMC shop manuals are available as reprints, except later versions which
cover the bigger trucks and weigh several pounds.
