Rick, my info for 1956 shows the following:

Front    3100 = 11 x 2
             3600 & 3800 = 12 x 2

Rear    3100 = 11 x 1-3/4
            3600 = 12 x 2
            3800 = 14 x 2-1/2

 This is used to center the brake shoes in the drum.  When installing new or
adjusting the brakes loosen the eccentric bolt, adjust the shoes tight, hit
the side of the drum with a rubber hammer (back and forth) to shake the
shoes into place, try to tighten the adjuster again, once they are tight
lock the eccentric bolt in place, now back the adjuster off until the drum
will just spin and you are done!  This is from memory.  I hope I didn't
forget anything!

This process allows full contact between the shoes and the drum.
