Sounds like one of two things, a dead battery (they can show the right
voltage as long as there's no load on them) or a short somewhere that the
generator can't keep up with.  If it's through the ammeter and key switch,
but not the fuses (or you would have blown one), that should make it pretty
easy to find.  The Ammeter should be between the battery and the key
switch. (it is on my TF).  I would start disconnecting the key switch and
see if the short disappears.  That will tell you which side of the key
switch it's on.  From there on, start disconnecting things until you find
the short.  If I had to bet, I would say the key switch, voltage regulator,
generator, or the wiring itself.

Please let us know what you came up with.  This is where it would really be
nice to have one of those clamp on ammeters we were talking about a few
days ago.
