Dustin,
The bolt pattern for inline and V-8 Chevys are the same.  There are
different diameters, and different materials
( cast iron, nodular, forged).  Beware of smallblock 400 and big block 454
and some 427s.  They are externally balanced, and will not work even though
they will bolt up.  1987 and later have different bolt pattern ( one piece
rear seal).
