Kevin has it right.......also I might add that there are a lot of folks on
this list with parts. Unless that part is just such a good deal you are
willing to have this guy in your face all the time, I'd let it go for the
benefit of being "unhooked" from this guy.

In fairness, the guy sounds like he is truly emotionally attached to the
truck.....and he may even have you in his sights as a sort of "partner" or
"son" figure. You don't have to smack him over the head initially....as
Kevin points out. Just state firmly, but with understanding of his opinion,
what YOU want to do with the truck.......you bought the rights to achieve
YOUR vision.

Shoot........he may even turn out to be good help!

Good luck Ethan........don't let ANYONE tread on your vision.

Ethan,

Some of us "older" and wiser (maybe...) folks can relate with your
experience. The bottom line is short and sweet, though getting the other
party to agree or at least understand is not always painless to achieve...

He/She had it... and they gave it up... End Game. Their interests,
thoughts, desires, wishes or unfulfilled dreams relative to your newfound
joy simply don't matter. And--- Shouldn't!

Be gentle at first. Good social skills and subtlety have worked wonders
over the years... If that doesn't work, "Hit em' with a Brick!" The
reality is that it's simply NOT their business anymore. You have every
right to do whatever you wish with your truck (Legal issues not
withstanding... ie: It would be "extremely" UN-cool to blow it up at a busy
intersection during rush hour!) Stand your ground. It is Yours!!!

You will not believe what I am going through with my trucks previous owner!
He actually told me what I could and could not do. He even drives by my
house while I am at work and looks at it(it sits on the side of my house
behind a fence might I ad!). We were checkin out my buddies truck at work
and he was there to tell me(and I quote) "mine and your truck will look alot
better!" I was dumb founded! I wanted to yell "IT'S MY TRUCK!" I don't
know what to do I don't want to be mean cause he still has some part lying
around his old barn that he is gonna get for me. I am actually afraid to
restore my pick up how I want to! I really don't know what to do...the fact
that I am only 19 and have already done 50% of the work in 1 year than he
did
in thirty bugs him too! Sorry to stray but i wanted to know if i am the
only
one with this problam.

Thanks guys.
