Someone recently told me that modern high detergent oils are safe in an
original '49 engine (which should have babbit poured bearings).

Can anyone educate me further. We have always filled this engine with ND
oils only.

HD oils in these engines goes aganst everything I have ever heard...

If I stick with ND oils, can I expect a bunch of sludge in the motor even
if the oil is changed regularly? (2000 miles or so - this truck doesn't get
around outside of town...)

THANKS!
