Michael and group,
This sounds like a great time to have the head tested for cracks as Jim
suggested but also have hard seats installed, guides an seals replaced,
springs tested and replaced if necessary, and the head surfaced, if
necessary.  Talk to a good engine machinist about this stuff.  If you cut a
corner or two, you'll be back later doing it all over again!
