Hi Chris,
   If (feeble) memory serves me correctly from studying my workshop manual,
'49s came with all 3 types you mentioned. My EARLY '50 (with leftover
sheetmetal from the 49 run) had a Carter and I swapped it for a rebuilt
Rochester.
