I am only passing along what I was told by another ole trucker over the
weekend so don't shoot the messenger. He said he had used the front
crossmember and associated suspension parts from an 1986 Mitsubishi truck on
his 51 AD truck. He said he went that route because the aftermarket guys
like Fatman etc. only have 5 bolt wheel setups and he wanted 6 bolt so that
he could use the wheels that he already has. He said that after doing a lot
of measuring of different vehicles he discovered the Mitsubishi crossmember
was exactly the right width and I guess the bolt pattern was the same.
According to him, this installation was just like doing the aftermaket thing
with MII suspensions (he didn't have to cut the frame off like a Camaro or
Nova installation) but he was able to keep his 6 bolt wheels. It was
probably a lot cheaper too.
