I tore down my 50 COE this week. On the springs they have the usual clamps to
hold leaves into place. I have seen the tubes on the bolts closing these up
rust out. Mine didn't have the sleeves. I'm thinking they are just a "crush"
preventing spacer so the clamp don't pinch on leaves and allows them to move
freely, is this right? SO, do I need to get sleeves here or can I just buy new
bolts and maybe the nylock nuts with locking plastic on edge and leave
slightly less than tight? Can you buy the sleeves? Or just make them from
something? What do you guys do? I pulled the rear spring pins out of frame
brackets and they came right out including the lock pins. It was too easy! I'm
changing two of the spring mounts on forward mount as have ovaled holes in
them. Luckily I have some off another frame I stripped. The old ones were also
welded on some, One was just bolted on so it was changed in past. Had to cut
welds to get off, came clean pretty easily.
