So far as I know, Sta-Bil has no side effects. I do not know how
well it works on a fuel injection system where the passages and tolerances
are much tighter than in a carb. You might want to try their web

Personally, along with the non-oxygenated gas, I swear by it. My
snowblower didn't get used at all last winter and when I tried it
this fall, it started right up with year old gas.
