I have a cousin who grew up in southern CA. He used to help prepare high power
boats for racing. Mainly big block supercharged Pontiac engines. He swore by a
50/50 mix of STP and oil for newly rebuilt engines. He retired recently from
working  on heavy equipment in the mines in Alaska. He still swears by STP.
No, I don't work for STP. I think the REALLY important thing is to make sure
the engine is well lubed upon start up. By the way, my friend who used
kerosene to clean his Cougar V-8 engine was a navy special weapons
officer---read, nuclear weapons. He could read and write Japanese, one of abt
3 non-Japanese I've ever known who had that ability. He was sharp. Durwood,
how do USS Tutuila, ARG-4, USS Kitty Hawk, CVA-63, and USS Ranger, CVA-61,
strike you?  Did you used to wear little green suits when you were young and
easily manipulated? I liked the big grey canoe club so well that I retired
after 18 years, 4 months, and six days. Counts as 20 for retirement. I really
enjoyed it until I went onboard RANGER as a "Boot" W-1. But I didn't like the
politics and petty egotistical senior officers.(Only some, including my
department head, who wrote my fitness report.) When my sea duty abd RANGERBOAT
was extended six months, and my "friendly" detailer told me my 3 year shore
tour was going to be shortened to 2 years "For the needs of the service", I
put in my papers. I still like the navy at the first of each month. Bob K in
