year. (example www.oldchevytrucks.com or Brothers or LMC or Chevy Duty) In
Jim Carter parts book your shop manual is on page 65, part number LI104,
$25.45 plus tax, tags, license and handling fees. Whatever you do --DO NOT
-- DO NOT -- GO TO CLASSIC CHEVROLET PARTS IN OKLAHOMA! IMHO THEY ARE
BOTTOM FEEDING SCUM SUCKERS AND PROBABLY EAT THEIR BUGGERS and smear their
wet fingers all over your parts before theysend them out and laugh. But
what do I know, try them if you want.
What kind of 'newer six' do you want to put in? If yours is stock then it
is a 216 dipper. A 1954 to 1962? 235/261 had full pressure oiling and it
will fit but you will have to change the water pump and fan. (Lotsa luck
finding a 261 BTW.) The modern sixes have different motor mounts and are
longer and stuff like that which means that you will have to move your
radiator forward and all kinds of other weird junk but you might get better
gas mileage.
