Hey Tom: I have been following this thread with great interest. I too
have a 55 2nd and I'm in the process of street Roding this one. This is
the second time around for this one. First time I did stock all original
except wheels & tires. Well now she has been stripped to the frame, has
RB's front clip welded to her nose and is going to be running a new 350
crate motor with a 89 700R trans and 75 camaro rear end with 342 gears.
The project is going along a little to slow for my taste but with all
the rain we have had here in south east Virginia it's a miracle I have
gotten anything done.
So to get to the point I have all the original running gear complete
front axel in excellent condition, Steering box as well as the stock
rear end also 390 geared. I bought this truck from the original owner In
Kansas back in 1975. I have had the Truck Ever since. When I pulled in
the garage this time she had 68,453 original miles on her. One of the
axel seals was seeping a little and needs to be changed other than that
it's all in great shape. I thought you might need some or all of it. You
live in SC. So you're not to far away to come and get it. Ping me off
list if you're interested.

George
55 2nd

I could just put a gear set in from another original rearend as some of
the
teeth are broke off the current one, replace the pinion bearing and be
on
my way. Patricks offer the replacement 3:38 gear, would cost upwards of
600
to replace the set and all the bearing and would have to have a
different
carrier to use after market gear sets. I have the 2:73 that I've gonna
put
back in from a early 70 Nova so just need to make the time to get out
and
swap it back out.. I hate doing work like this is the type of heat
we've
had lately. So I may spread it our over a few weekends.. --wayne
