Greetings,

I have been a member of this list on and off for several years, and I am
glad to be back.

I am debating whether to overhaul the wounded '73 Nova rear axle currently
in my truck or to spend $100 dollars for a 9" axle I found under a Mercury
Monarch yesterday.

I would like to invite comments from the people who have installed
Versailles, Granada or Monarch rear axles in their AD trucks. The consensus
is that these axles are an easy "bolt on" because they have the same
distance between spring perches as the AD truck (43 inches correct?).
My questions are;
Once you bolted on the axle, did you have the correct pinion inclination, or
did you have to use wedges to adjust it?
Using this axle, did you have any interference between your tires and the
bed of the truck, i.e is the axle wide enough? If there is interference, did
you fix that by using offset wheels? How much offset do you need to clear
the bed?
Has anyone modified the frame to use the wider leaf springs from these cars?
How? The springs seem to be nice and have some sort of plastic sliders built
in the tips of each leaf.
Any other wisdom / insights in this regard? Like making sure when one buys
the axle to get a,b and c from the car as well. How much should one expect
to pay for one of these axles complete?

Thanks to all of you
