What is a safe cruising rpm for a 235

Bill,
Keep it under 2800 on the road, 2500 would be better. If your 3800 has
stock gearing, that will only be 45 MPH or so depending on tire size. That is
why
I installed an OD in my '48. My comfortable cruise speed is 65 MPH at about
2100 RPM.
