I just got my latest MidAmerica Corvette catalog in the mail and found some
reproduction
cast iron exhaust manifolds in there for $120 each.
They look close enough to the old ones off of my 58 Suburban that I can't
tell any
difference by the picture.
left = casting number 3749965
right = casting number 3932461
I've just about cleaned up my manifold well enough to use but the casting
number isn't
real clear on the left (but looks pretty close to the left side casting
number above if
you use your imagination) and pretty well gone on the right so I can't even
guess on
that one.
Are these the right numbers for our trucks? It might help someone else in
the future if
you're real picky about museum grade restorations.
Does the Classic Chevy Club sell these as well? They seem to do alot of
resto parts for
the 55-57 Chevys.
It's been a while since I cruised the old truck catalogs; do they now carry
them as well?

Hi Guys,
I bought a full set of engine mounts for the original 265 V8 in my 1955
Cameo
from Truck Shop in Orange, CA and tried to install the rear ones today.
After an hour of frustration trying to get the holes to line up, I compared
the ones removed with what I was trying to install. (A smart guy would have
done it after 10 minutes.) The mounts removed are rounded on the front and
back
edges and the new ones are square. Why does that matter? Several surfaces
(block, clutch cover, etc.) impinge on that area and the square corners seem
to
cause a problem.
Has anyone else had this problem? Are mounts available from another source
that will fit better? Please answer directly as well as through the list,
or
even better, give me a call!

I just ordered new door rubber and adhesive from good ol' reliable
Chevy Duty (they even know enough to sell BLACK adhesive!).
:o)
Also, the door rubber is listed at $19.95 in the catalog and they only
charged me $14.95 -- what a deal! Who ever heard of anyone LOWERING
their prices? The more I deal with Chevy Duty, the more dedicated to
them I become.
Anyway, I thought I'd ask: How important is it to remove the old
adhesive when taking off the old door rubber? Do I need to get it all
off, or what?
