Larry:
I don't remember which truck you drive, but the GMC Master Parts
Book shows a standard 3/8" lock washer and a 3/8 x 24 nut as the only
attaching hardware for the locking pin.

Thanks to all who replied, I finally got the locking pin out. (the king
pins are another story altogether)

Anyway, and I'm not sure if I can give a good description or not, but I
also came up with another possible problem. When taking apart the right
side (which came out fairly easily) I noticed what looks almost like a
sort of bracket, but seems to only serve as a washer. Not sure if this
is a good description, but it slides on the end of the locking pin, and
is held on the
locking pin nut. This piece looks like it servers as nothing more that
an
oversize washer for the locking pin, but I'm not quite sure.

Are any of these floating around in anyone's garage, not being used, or
do you think I could safely dispence with this?
