| I have seen some of the old "red" factory finishes turn a "chalky pink" over 
time. Pigments change color, ozone depletion, Russki atom bomb 
testing.....whatever the reason. Take some mild rubbing compound, and by hand, 
rub like applying paste wax. Wipe off the film, and you may see some of the 
original color come to view (if there is any left under the chalky film). Hope 
it works for you.
