In fact, that cool-looking Futurliner (that's how GM spelled it) came from
Canada, where it was restored in Montreal in the 1990s for $300,000-plus. A
group of businessmen/enthusiasts found it in a Chicago scrapyard for
$17,000. So for $4 million, that's not a bad return!

GM built 12 Futurliners in 1939-40 and then refitted them in the early 1950s
when it revived its Parade of Progress. Nine are known to survive, including
three -- one is the Michigan one that's been discussed here -- in the
original configuration. Gotta wonder where the missing three went!
