Morning,
I am looking for the correct order of assembly fot the steering wheel and
horn cap assembly on my 50 GMC/Chevy. This is what I have right now,
Starting with column and no assembly
Install large spring
Install steering wheel
Install contact wheel
Install contact plunger
Install column nut (and washer?)
Install horn cap
Before installing the horn cap I checked to see that pushing the ring and
contact plunger would activate the horn. It did not. When I short the center
column to the brass column bushing I get the horn OK. Only thing I can
figure is that I am assembling in the wrong order or missing a part. Thad
arm Chevy assembly manual shows more 54 stuff than earlier models so I may
have a piece missing. Anyone have advice on this?
