My guess is old gas killed the plugs.

I had some ole gas in the oletruck and fouled the plugs in about 30 
seconds.

Wire brush leaves metal residue and can short the plug. Burn em off with 
a propane torch instead-- I do this all the time to save 12 dollar a pop 
Honda motorcycle plugs. Don't cook the ground electrode-- cherry red 
good, bright red bad.
