This discussion is borderline on topic. While an '87 is indeed an old
truck to have on the road these days, it doesn't qualify as an
"Oletruck"--that's reserved for Task Force and Advance Design series
(1941-1959). There are other discussion mailing lists out there for
the later gen models, and if you have model specific queries they
might be better addressed there.

You can narrow your search by looking for 3rd generation C/K (1973-1987).

The C/K serieses ran from 1960 through 1999. 1st gen was 1960-1966,
characterized by the protruding hood and trapezoid shaped wheel arch.
2nd gen was 1967-1972, the round arch years. 3rd gen had dual
verticle headlamps and square wheel arches.

For now, since many of the oletruckers have later v8's in their
trucks, this discussion may be of interest, but don't stray too far
into specifics on C/K 3rd and expect to see a lot of support here.

all time low at about 7mpg. GM was so concerned with meeting the EPA regs that
they strangled the engine. I bought a SWB stepside new in '73 and it used 7
mpg like it was on a timer. Didn't seem to matter if I was driving around
town, on the highway, or in the mountains.
