have you thought about a cummins 4BTA?
3.9l 345tq@1650rpm and 110-130hp depending on compression.
wieghs about 25# more than OEM 216 and is shorter in length and hieght.

can be had for about $2500 in a bread/chip van running with chevy automatic or
ford stick or allison auto(HD!!!)

looking at 25-30 MPG and it runs on one wire and will ingest any fuel-used
oil, filtered veggie grease/oil, diesel....
mine is going into my 1950 suburban.

Jim,
What size/brand of diesel engine do plan to use in your 1955 GMC COE? I would
love to use a diesel in my '51 3100.

Bob,

That project is still a couple of years down the road and I haven't
really decided on the size. I do know that it will be a
GM diesel and beyond that I haven't given it much thought. I need to
finish the 38 Olds and then restore the 39 LaSalle
before SWMBO will let me start on the COE. :>)

Thanks for the interest,

Jim V.

1955 GMC COE (to be made into a tilt cab rollback wrecker with diesel
