Steve,
        Thanks for the info.  I eventually got the speedo to work by moving
that plasic collar down the cable about 1/4". (I put the cable in the vice
and used a small socket to tap it down).  Perhaps it had worked itself up
the cable with time?
        Isn't it nice to fix things!!

from backing out of the gauge.
