Yes, I have baked the enamel on many of my parts and I have been satisfied
with the results--The resulting finish is very smooth and hard- The heat
apparently makes the fresh paint flow into the crevices in the metal, and then
bakes it to a hard enamel finish.
The way I did it was to put the freshly painted parts into our preheated 350
degree kitchen oven. I laid the parts on aluminum foil, or hung them on wires
from the top rack with aluminum foil beneath to catch drips. I baked the
parts from 30-45 minutes, then removed and let cool.
Of course I only did this when the wife was away for the day. It does create
an odor in the house. Best to ventilate the house well.
