Daryl,
maybe you are missing a page in the instructions.  They explain how to put
the SPRITE coupler onto the DATSUN cable housing.  
You can find the instructions on the Mini Mania web page too.
Also, you have to make
the square end of the Datsun inner cable (where it enters the speedo)
bigger.  I smeared JB Weld all around it and then filed it to the right
size.
