I personally do not recommend any aerosol primers, they are mostly thinners
and absorb moisture.
If you have the equipment why not spray the shell in a good etching primer
(2 part) with this you can apply filler over it at any time.
For a top coat I have been very happy with Deltron urethane single stage
paints.
I have had base coat/clear coat start to fade and the clear started lifting
and fogging. This has never happened with singl stage urethane.
