Jason,
get the new ones if you can afford them.  I have gone through 5 Apple
shocks total out of which 1.5 are still working.  I have heared similar
and worse stories from other Apple Shock customers.
There are other vendors of rebuilt shocks that claim theirs are better
(you might hear from them :-), but my personal guess is that there is
something about these shocks that can't be rebuilt...

If you get new ones, shop around for the best price, check out the Moss/VB
resellers (where you can save xx% off Moss prices) to make the price more
reasonable.
