  Sounds like the carbs for my 1970B.

  Those are indeed vents, they connect to a breather system on later
cars, or on early cars like mine, to pipes that dump the fuel safely
below the hot exhaust manifold.

  Part of the breathing system on the same MGB, on my B they are joined
to a T to a hose that disappears under the manifolds and connects...
well...
I don't know where. ;>
