Well, I have had similar experiences with my door latches. After the
reassembling the car after paint, the driver's door would fly open in hard
turns, rather annoying. I adjusted the striker and door until I was blue
in the face but finally sprayed some silicone lube into the latch
assembly. That did the trick! The door stayed closed.
However, this fix only lasted a couple of weeks before I had to reapply
the spray. I finally tried white litium in a spray can and have had no
problems since.
I had caused the problem by thoroughly cleaning the assembly with Super
Clean.
