A new noise just started under the bonnet. It's a high-pitched cross
between a rumble and a whine. Using a stethoscope, I have determined that
both the water pump and the dynamo sound louder when listening with a
stethoscope! :)
In other words, I can't pinpont the source of the sound. Other than the
horrendous screeching that is heard just before bearing failure (the sound
is not nearly there yet), what are some other symptoms of either of these
items failing? The water pump does not appear to be leaking as the water
level is good.
