  This may seem like splitting hairs, but whether the assumption
was correct is somewhat irrelevant.

  I can probably guess that most of the listers here are
opposed to a lot of things, murder, theft, Triumph Spitfires,
and so on.

  ...however, there is a big stretch between "being
reasonably sure that the group is generally in
agreement" and "making a statement to a third party
on behalf of the group".
