Hi List,

Being English I can't give 2 cents worth of opinion BUT can give my 2 penneth
worth.

1. You get what you pay for.

2. Your time is generally cheaper than the machine shops unless you are a
brain surgeon or maybe a lawyer.

3. Lack of micrometer, dial gauge etc makes DIY engine builds tricky and the
cost of buying tools etc that might not get a lot of use could be money put
into a professional engine build instead.

4. I have had professional engine builds both distant past and recent past
that were a complete waste of money and I got ripped off.

5. I have had professional engine builds that resulted in road engine that
would wipe the floor with the majority of racings Spridgets in the UK.

6. I have run a 'dodgy' A series engine in a Mini and run a main bearing big
time (I scrapped the engine - cheaper to get another).

6. I ran a 'dodgy' engine in my Sprite when I first had it until it was
cheaper to have it rebuilt then keep putting oil in it (oil is not cheap over
here).

7. Your money, your engine, your choice.

Finally, I guess 2 penneth works out more than 2C??? or is value relative?
