Austin A40 as a donor car?

Now, this is crazy but it happened.
Someone just offered me a 1963 Austin A40 Farina Mk2 and
he told me the engine/gearbox/axle/diff is is decent condition.

The engine is a longitudinal A-Series, number 9D-U-L-127000 (!)
and the gearbox looks and feels exactly like the one in my
Sprite, only this one has no ribs. The lever is the same,
the metal thing around the base of the lever is the same,
even the way it hates to go into 1st and reverse is the same!

So, can I just take all this stuff out of the A40, order a 
brand new Sprite Mk4 bodyshell and have another Sprite?

(yeah, dream on...)

If some nice fellow on this list knows, I'd like to know.
