My gearbox has been leaking down the front shaft (in the bellhousing)
since I reinstalled it. I took the bellhousing off and the bearings are
wet, but there is an oil slinger in there that's supposed to throw the
oil back. All the parts catalogs list an oil seal and an o-ring that go
on/in the bellhousing. I don't have either of those. The catalogs say
that the seals were only installed after a certain model of gearbox, and
I am assuming mine must be one of the early models. My question is, can
I fit the oil seal and o-rings to my transmission, and if so, should
that stop the leak? Thanks!
