what a superb treatment of the issue!
Could you tell us what offset your rims have (or what rims you are using)
and what spacers you had to use?  Do you have a good source for wheel
spacers?

I have a set of wheels with the RE71Rs for my Fiat and was very pleased to
hear your comments since I haven't mounted them yet.  I was a little
scared of the wet performance since I drive in the rain almost every day
(Seattle).

I also used a bottle jack and then ground away a little at the fender lip,
not enough to get to the spot welds.  I used some paint to cover the
potential rubbing areas and the lip and went for a spin.  Afterwards I'd
see where the paint had rubbed off and work on that area, then repaint and
drive again.  This way it is easy to find out where it rubs.
