I did that, and I am no specialist engineer !

If I could manage it, treating the whole thing as a series of "bite sized"
practical problems then I think anyone can. I did the whole job, and didn't
use any prefabricated kits, although they are available.
Oh, and yes it was certainly worthwhile!

I wrote up a detailed item on this and Larry put it on his site at
http://www.ado13.com
I presume it is still there.
I also now have some photos that I could scan and send if you like
